New Zealand Universe beauty pageants

Yesterday, we had the New Zealand Universe beauty pageants come and talk to the years 7&8. They were contestants of the Miss universe girls, they were 20 girls in total but 16 only came. The girls talked to us about being entrepreneur. The NZ beauty pageant girls are going to the philippines to compete. 

Then the girls splitted up and went to different classrooms and talked to us. Becky and Hannah came to our class they told us some advice to never stop trying and never give up your dreams. After a while they left to go phillippines

they are the top 20 finalist. They inspired me and others to keep my hopes and dreams up and never go back but go forward in life. They might be and it can be and Inspiration to you.

My First Pay Packet

This Week We read a book about I teen boy working for his own pocket money. As he is trying to find a job he struggles because he is getting rejected by the shop keepers after a while he finally finds one. He was chosen to work at the G.I supermarket he had to stack containers on shelves when he had finished he got he pay check he got $110 dollars when he. got he showed he parent they told him that he had to do a tradition and split the money he felt angry I little. Because he had worked hard to earn the money but then He decided to do it he gave money to his whole family and he got $10 dollars back from him. But his parent said "its a one time thing son, next time the money is all yours" Thank you for reading please leave feedback for me and tell me how I did.

Care Bear's Billy Kart

YAY!! we are done with the Billy kart, here is a list how we made it.

1. drilled the wood together.

2.Then got some wheels from mitre 10 mega and we bought 4 wheels there were two big ones at the back and two small one in the front.

3. And then you break a chair and drill it to the billy kart.

4.And get the bottom part of the chair if you want too and put it in the front of the billy kart to make it look like bull horns.

5. Then get a rope and put it together with the front wood for out steering wheel and attach it to two pieces of wood .

6 Then last but not least get one little wood for our brake, so every time you are going fast you use the brakes to slow down the kart.

We have test the Kart and it go so!! good, the steering is nice and smooth, the seat is nice and convert and the brake works good.

YAY this was Really really cool!! and fun!! project.

Nesian Fusion Assembly

This Friday the whole school went and saw the Nesian Fusion perform then after assembly went to zeal zone we got to learn how to spin the ailao stickes. Our tutor was Maorikava I had to help him because I already knew how to spin it because I use to be in nesian. After we learnt the afa we got to watch the three tutors (Maorikava, Deacon and Lee) spin off. It was Awesome getting to learn new staff. ANZAC Reflection

I learnt that the first world war 1 they fought at a poppy field and they ate ginger nuts cookies, corned beef, meat stew and raw meat. they had to fight in mud and trenches, they had A group of miners, operating dug tunnels up to 100ft underground, to plant and detonate mines beneath the enemy's trenches. And when they dug tunnels used mouses to see if the enemy tunnels were not exposed with poisonous gas.Then it all ended in 1918 november 11th more than 1.5 million The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I was over 37 million. There were over 16 million deaths and 20 million wounded ranking it among the deadliest conflicts in human history. The total number of deaths includes about 10 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians. This is what I learnt so far thank you for reading

ANZAC Cookies

We made anzac cookies they were delicious. Me and group (Maysun, Lorenzo and PJ)  made them into small balls then we gave them out to teachers and Students.

2. 1 cup caster sugar
3. 1 cup desiccated coconut
4. 1 cup rolled oats
5. 300 grams block butter
6. ½ cup golden syrup
7. ¼ tsp baking soda
                                                                8. ¼ tsp vanilla essence
                                                                9. 2 tbsp warm water

Polyfest Pasifika

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!

Zeal Zone

Last week we made health wraps for zeal zone We used hummus to spread over the wrap, then sprinkle grated carrots. Fold one edge of the wrap, and then carefully, roll it up. Finally, slice the wrap in half.

The ingredient
1. tortilla
2. Hummus
3. Grated carrots
4. Grated cheese
5. lettuce
6. Ham
7. sauce

we did it because in all one cost $7.00 and most people never make homemade sandwich They always buy sandwich instead of making it

The Blackout Chapter 3

It been 8 weeks since we last saw power I woke to another bad dream about me alone in a school and it was dark and scary then a monster ran right in front of me. I woke nearly frighten to death it was 2:00 in the morning I was sweating so I went to go have a nice warm shower to cool me down but then I realized that we had no light I couldn't even see myself and where I was going so I just went back to bed. then in the morning I heard my sister Lia shouting “I can’t take it anymore I just can’t” than a loud slam it was the door. My sister ran away that when the search began me and my big brother Josh went to go find her at her favorite spots and places but we could not find her.

8 hours later we still haven’t found her then I remembered when I was young I use to go to the park with my sister and she use to love that place because she always had peace and quiet to read her book and get her homework done but I forgot that place when I started to get older until now. I told my brother we ran there and there she was sitting on the swing it was quiet then I walked to her and said, “What happened” then Lia said, I want everything back to normal when he had internet and my sky hdi and other stuff that powered stuff I just miss it” and I replied back “It all right I miss it too but we can always think of something, now let go home mum and dad might be home worried sick” “really” said “Lia yes really” I said then we home.

The Black Out Chapter 2

Day 4 of the blackout It was dark and stormy I was scared because we had no light and our torches were dead. I layed in my room thinking when would this end. The next morning I woke up my parents were gone I went to my brother and said, “where is mum & dad” and he replied “I don’t know” then I went to my sister but I could not ask because her door was shut that meant she was sleeping so I just went back to my room and layed there and fell asleep.

BOOM!!! I woke up yelled what is happened my brother ran to me and said, “get up and follow me”. so I started to follow then he stopped and I stopped he looked at me and said “it your turn to die” then ran and trapped me into a corner then stabbed me I woke shouting “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! then lucky it was just a dream” ,I said. Mum & dad ran to my room and said, “What going on!!” I replied “it all right, it all right it was just a bad dream”. my brother walked into my room I got scared then ran behind my dad mum looked at and said, “ what wrong johny”

The Black Out Chapter 1

Hi my name is john west I live in G.I which stands for Glenn Innes which is in Auckland. It was the last day of school I was thinking in my head what should I do in the holidays. I got too excited that I yelled “YES!!” everyone looked at me strange then my teacher mr somerville he was an annoying and who kept speaking and speaking he said, “What, who said that” and everyone replied, “It was John” and then Mr replied, “John you are staying in for 5 minutes and if you talk back and extra 5”.After School I stayed inside because I had to own my minutes when I was done he was saying something I couldn’t hear because I was still daydreaming about what should I do in the holidays but I heard some of it he said, “it is coming soon” I was thinking is he crazy or what. then he looked at me and said, “you can go now”. when I left I was scared then I thought what is coming soon.

Two days later that when it came. When I woke up I saw my brother he was in the sitting room and I was thinking thats strange he is usually at work with my dad he turned to me and said, “the city powers off”. I thought he was lying so I went turned the t.v. on and it didn’t worked so it was true. Man I was angry I really was looking forward to playing game. My mum told me to play cards with my sister and brother so I did when we were playing in the sitting It was soo boring. I looked at the t.v. and it turned on then I yelled “THE POWERS BACK ON” my brother Josh raced to his room and played on his ps3 I ask if I could and he said, “ I ain't going to play i'm going to watch videos”. After like 20 minutes the power turned back off my brother got angry that he punched the wall then we turn back to playing cards.

The Next day see what happens would the powers turn back on and stay on or would it stay off for ever.

My Good/Successful writing parcitice

I am going to tell you how to be a Good and Successful student at school or at home. you have too follow these steps first you have to pay attention to your teachers or parent, be polite to adults and young ones to, show respect to everyone, love, care and sharing is caring.

And now I am going to tell you how to do it. first how to pay attention you need to make sure that your eyes on the teacher let them know that you are ready to learn or the one how is speaking but not the one speaking on the mat because they're just going to get you in trouble. second be polite to the adult and little ones adult are older than you so might want to show respect because if you don’t they might think that your parent are bad and they don’t show respect to anyone and be kind to young one so they can follow your foot steps and be like you nice, kind, loving and caring.

What not to do when you are trying to show respect or be nice and care. when you are trying to show respect do not go over the limit when you show too much respect that some of your friend might not want to hang out with you anymore and that everyone start to think you are too nice and you can’t do anything bad.

Reading A Map

Today I have learnt about compass directions. I can place symbols on a map. I also learnt how to find locations by following a given directions. By learning my compass direction I never get loss to go place. Never eat soggy weetbix is going to help to remember the compass directions.

Sunblock can keep you from getting skin cancer, And a hat that covers your face from the sun,sunglasses that keep your eyes shaded from the sun because you would get blind.

Sunblock keep your skin nice and protected from the sun. Sunscreen acts like a very thin bulletproof vest. When you swim make sure you have waterproof sunscreen. When it comes to sun exposure, however, what you can't see will hurt you.

Hats protect your face the sunlight. If you don’t wear one you can get skin cancer on your face and also get fricklas. You need to wear a hat because Around 2,100 people died from skin cancer in 2012 in the UK, that's around 6 every day.

Sunglasses help your eyes to see better.It would protect it and keep it from making your eyes watery.Did you now that if you don’t wear sunglasses when its sunny your eyes can turn red and be sore.

Sunblock, hat and sunglasses can help us keep safe in the sun.
